moonlighting is that you use your spare time to earn extra money.

Night float system is a team that covers the night shift wherever they are needed, they make it possible for the regular shift residents reduce their time in hospital.

Moonlighting is not allowed in the first year of many programs. When you are a PGY3, you maybe able to find some moonlighting opportunities to earn extra money.
