can metronidazle be used in pregnant women? Some books say that it is teratogenic, especially in the first trimester. Some books say that it can be used throughout the pregnant, including 1st trimester.
Any suggestions? Thanks |

according to cdcd guidelines oral is preffered in all phases of pregnancy b/c creams are not as effective and since the risk of infection and complications to fetus outweigh the benefits hence oral metro is preffered. |

Just got a UW question re: this. Several sources site trials that show creams are not helpful and actually cause a worse outcome (including uptodate), so oral metro is the preferred tx. If this q comes up on the test, I wonder what answer I should choose? |
