hey guys, i was wondering during scramble we have phone interviews. so how does the interview process work. Anyone from last year who scramble have any information or advise.
1. how long do the interviews usually last?
2. any idea what kind of questions they can ask?
3. are the question same as during the regular interviews for match or different because of time restrictions?
4. who usually ask the questions - the pd, other senior faculty, or senior residents?
5. how long is the "so called time slot for interview calls" all day and night or usually until like late in the evening 8 pm?
6. do we find out that we match with the the program on the phone or do we have to wait until march 15?
7. do they fax us the contract right away if they like us?
8. any idea on how many calls one may get duruing scramble?
sorry for so many questions, i'm just trying to prepare myself for scramble. hopefully i match, and don't have to worry about it. good luck to all. pray for all of us. |

no one has any idea......com'on guys.........i have read on this forum that some of u had to scramble last year but were unforunate and didn't get a position and are trying again this year. pls share your experience with the rest of us. any idea on any of the questions i have asked. |

Dear Computer...
pple have gone thru scramble last year ..doesnt mean that they got an IV during that time,... U will be lucky if u get single call ... and its also called post match after 15 march... u will see lots of positions will keep appearing on different websites... thruough the june..july or sometimes till august for PGY 1 in FM, Prelim Surgery..etc..so there is no time limit... keep trying.. and for ur questions...
Q1 : i didnt had IV so no idea..but it would be really brief....
Q2 : sorry again ...No IDEA
Q3: answer to this qs is in ur q itself... scramble is headache for the candidates and for the PDs as well... most of the time during scramble... they will call u(if at all u r lucky to be called) with all ur credentials... by that time they would already have made their mind.to offer u postion.. its not regular IV..so if u get an IV.... more chances of u getting into that place... they just want to see u personally..if u dont make any gross mistake..and talk well and nicely and explain convincingly why u didnt match.... then u r all set to get it...
Q4 : Depends what kind of position u r applying for... and is it university or community place... big place...any senior person will interview u and decide and small place u get to tallk to PD
Q 5:they dont conduct the IVs out of the official hrs...
Q 6: if u interview during scramble... they can let u know personally.... even right at the time of iV or on march 13. or 14.. no need to wait till march 15
Q 7: they will send contract along with the contract of the other matched candidates..so probably next week.. u will get it
Q 8: as i said before...if u Get one or two in those 48 hrs... consider ur self LUCKY....
