Dermic, you are the 1st IMG I have known who matched in derm... great going, and well done!! In fact I know of an American Grad who didnt match in Derm and committed suicide!! Such cut-throat competition... I feel lucky ophthal is easier :) |

There were few IMG going to DERM before. Every year about 3 out of the 300 spots are IMG. It's true it is very tough and many Americans do not get in, but it is still doable if you are willing to work hard and want it badly and you are a very good candidate.
The American girl that committed suicide is a very sad story. I have no idea on the details, I just also heard about it. I guess that luck may also be important, besides credentials...etc...but without a very good CV luck will not help.
