What are my chances of getting a ophthalmology residency. Is it realistic? would it be worth putting in the time for research, or a prelim year?
Im an IMG, have a USA citizenship, did ok on the step 1 and well on step 2.
If anyone could help me out ..that would be great. |

I believe its CAF (Common Application Form) .. its the CAF that has to be filled in when you apply through the SF Match. There is nothing like a separate CAS Match. No extra creds needed for the SF Match. You will need the California Letter only if you are applying to programs in CA.
No, I dont believe there are any FMG-friendly Ophthalmology programs per se. Only those who have taken ocassional FMGs in the past. You will have to do that bit of research. It doesnt matter when you apply though, as there are only about 110 programs and most FMGs applying for Ophtho apply to most of them. You probably cant afford to be choosy there. |

Matchmaker,
Do you know what manu meant by a path or neuro rotation? Would that mean and observorship and do you think that might be helpful?
Could I get your email address, since I have quite a few more questions.
Thanks |

Matchmaker,
I read through the link, Thanks a lot.
Could you tell me what this means please?
The program supplements the PGY-1 matching services of the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). It is timed to allow applicants to know their PGY-2 placement in Ophthalmology before they submit their rank list for PGY-1 choices.
And I looked through FRIEDA and there about 117 programs for ophthalmology, are the same programs in the SF Match?
