I tried to ask for guidances about how to prepare for step 3 two months ago but getting booed by people here. Even though I didnt benefit a lot from this forum, I still wanna share my experience to u. Hopefully u wouldnt make the same mistakes as I did and get a much better score than I have.
I got my score report just now. Not a good score and I am very disappointed, but I am glad it's over finally. I would definitely suggest every one to give the exam ASAP bcz this exam is not like step1 or 2. Quite a few answers in the real exam cant be found on any textbooks or journals. It is a test of medical sense. So studying doesnt really make much difference. Clinical experience, by contrast, will play a major role on ur score.
I prepared for one month, making use of the night time(4 hrs a day) and the weekends bcz I m doing fellowship. My only source for MCQ is UW, but I regret doing so as the exam content has very few to do with UW. It's only the format similarity that counts. If u r a good test taker, u ll be fine.
As for CCS, my source is FA only. I didnt do UW for I thought there's too much micro-management inside. Maybe it's my fault not doing so. I finished all cases in 10 minutes nevertheless my CCS score is below average.

How can we know what r the experimental qs in the exam??? And, is this medical qs?

Face the reality. Every one has different limitations and expectations. If u score above 250 ob both steps, u would probably have higher expectations for steop3. It has nothing to do with the real circumstances. Try to respect others if they have different opinions than urs. This is "American spirit." You dont have to agree with me, but I have my own right to speak.

I work with a lot of fellows here in a very prestigious hospital(the one Red Sox affiliates with), and most of them couldnt remember their most cases too. R u saying that Harvard med school graduates r not smart enuf to remember the cases? That's natural. |

Harvard medical grad, please sir, take a closer look in the mirror, and realize that one day you can and will pass the cs and improve your English skills. Until that time sir, please leave the step 3 forum for individuals who have passed the test or are studying for it. If you dont have anything positive to contribute, other than fighting with your raging temper, then please do not post. You are disrespecting the integrity of this forum. Best way to study for the cs is study with a partner. I wish you luck. |

i know ur frm step 1 forum so i dont think u r fake...its probably becos u got 99 on both the previous steps that u r frustrated with 91 on step 3...but 91 is a gr8 score for step 3...relax...hope u get the residency of ur choice...

He is a real, I used to participate in step 1 and 2 with him in this forum.
I just took my step 3 and agree with him.
Kaplan qbank and UW qbank are out-dated, none of both is similar to real exam. BUT DOING QUESTIONS A LOT will be beneficial.
UW has been successfully in advertising their qbank more than Kaplan, that's why people often say UW is best choice qbank for step 3. UW is very twisted and vague.
Real test: information given a little bit clearly in the text but answer options are very long and confusing, I have to use exclusion strategy to select best answer. I think others did the same strategy like mine and that's why people did not have enough time for blocks.
Do not insult him like that, if you took the test, you would know it's wrong or right.
Moreover, some people says Conrad Fisher and Kap step 3 notes are worthless, but I knew 2 step 3 takers with 92 and 95 by studying Kap only.

please, enough with the false advertisement from Kaplan. You guys have helped alot of people fail step 3, now please go away. I can help you pass the CS, it is obvious that with your command of the English language, you cannot pass the CS. I promise you, with diligence, even you can succeed. Just keep on trying and working hard. USMLE World is not good for step 3, and step 3 takers got 95 by studying Kaplan only, you my friend are a LIAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nobody should listen to your garbage nonsense filthy lies. USMLE World is NOT the only answer, its a great source of information, it has grammatical errors, but it is HYYYY and it much much better to read something that will appear on the examination, rather than things with less grammatical errors, FULL OF MEDICAL MISTAKES SUCH AS KAPLAN. Please go away with your filthy lies. |
