  On UW and FA it says Euvolemia(FA p.431) and kaplan on endocrine sec says it is maintained hypevolmia---which to take I ma confused!

  clinically>euvolemia, no signs of volume overlosd as dyspnea or edema.
theoretically>hypervolemia, there is pure water reabsorption leading to hyponatremia, that is why treated by water (volume) restriction, that is why they used the term MAINTAIND

  euvolemia here z clinical euvolemia....pt wont hv any sign of hypervolemia like edema/ascitis
like in ccf/nephrotic syndrome....
coz kidney z still functional.....wid increase in volume--also increase in RBF---GFR---INCREASE in urine volume

while in ccf-------urine volume z low...u hv 2 gv diuretic

  A 16 YO boy has been admitted to pedi ICU after having sustained a head trauma in a motor vehicle accident. He is on mechanical vent. And he is heavily sedated and paralyzed. He is currently receiving maintaince IV fluid through centrally placed catheter. He also has aterial catheter on his right radial artery. His sodium has been decreasing over the past 2 days and now is 121 meq/l. The intensivist feels that the reason for this hyponateramia is due to SIADH.Which one of the FF is consistent with this diagnosis?
A. High IV volume and high urine Na
B. Low IV volume and low urine Na
C. Low IV volume and very high urine Na
D.Normal IV volume and high urine Na
E. Normal IV volume and normal urine Na

IV is intravascular volume

  obviously hypervolemia but edema and hypertension wont be there as there is natiuresis..when water is retained how can u say its euvolemia,
