  if 1 person in 10,000 with negative PPD skin test has active TB,and 1 person in 100 with the positive PPD has active PPD,which of the following is estimated relative risk of active TB in persons with positive PPD skin test.

a. 1
b. 9.9
c. 100
d. 1000
e. 10,000

pls explain ur ans.

  1. Risk of active TB in PPD+ is 1/100

2. Risk of active TB in PPD- is 1/10,000

3. Relative risk of active TB in PPD+ to PPD- is (1/100) / (1/10,000) = 100.


Not 100% sure though.

it was so simple and i was getting it confused with those true positives and false positives.
