if you're sure you want IM, you should apply to IM.
A Transitional year position is mostly for AMGs and actually is more competitive than an IM position.
Just my opinion, hope it helps.

mariano231 is right. Transitional year is mainly for AMGs and it is supposed to help you decide what you want to specialize in. You cant justify wanting to do IM and also saying that you want exposure to all specialties in transitional year cause you are undecided.

trans yr is not really dat competitive!!! or i think ppl are afraid to apply! i got ivs with univ program easily,had to cancel them coz cudnt afford that much....as i said, i think i got lucky and coz ppl were afraid to apply!!! if u have money, give it a shot...better than none at the end. gl |

be careful... transitional year is not a substitute for prelim med which is equal to pgy1..
transitional year doesn't cover the required number of months for medicine as the prelim med does.. rotations are different.. you have to check the curriculum of the transitional year,, and see if this certain medicine program accepts it or not.. usuall it is shown on the websites..hope i helped.. |
