My results came in today: and I failed for the second time
I went through kaplan q bank and had about 55% correct and usmleworld offline and read kaplan notes three times
I took NMBE no 3 2 week before and I got 206
where is the problem |

206 in NBME and 183 in the real exam
How can that happen?
Did any one face something like this?
Any one has any explanation or help? |

Your welcome skin_1975.. I understand.. It must be a shock to you.. but NBMEs are not entirely reliable for everyone.. The exam has gotten ALOT harder and there are new pool of questions that cannot be matched to any question bank or NBME.. Have you read Master the Boards before? |

do you feel that you didn't do well in the exam or did you feel that you did well enough to pass. I mean, maybe you should ask for a score re-check. You never know... |

Hi skin-1975
I did NBME and got 202, gave my exam 3 weeks later and I passed with 209/88. I think there is a fair amount of correlation but there are a few things to keep in mind. The NBME must be taken in timed mode with least amount of disruption in between (I mean suspending the test etc). At the end of the day, it is just not Knowledge, time management plays a big role. There is a possiblity of panicking in exam because you have limited time . If you start running out of time, you panic and thereby , you make mistakes you would have usually made right.
So at the end of the day, I want to reiterate, TIME MANAGEMENT is as important as KNOWLEDGE in Step 2.
