  Side effect of Clozapin, Propylthiouracil. S/S Sore throat and fever plus abnormal cell blood count.

Propylthiouracil (PTU)
Tx of Hyperthyroidism (Grave's Disease). Side effect is Agranulocytosis (suspected in any Pt. w/sore throat + fever while on this drug)
Decreases peripheral conversion of T4 to its active form, T3. IT IS SAFE TO USE IN PREGNANCY.
And Methimazole share a common mechanism of action in inhibiting the synthesis of thyroxine (T4), but methimazole is more potent.
However, PTU offers the advantage of reducing the peripheral conversion of T4 to T3.
Interferes with the incorporation of iodine into tyrosyl residues of thyroglobulin.
Clozapin
Atypical Antipsychotics Side effect AGRANULOCYTOSIS, also can produce MYOCARDITIS, Hepatitis, hyperglycemia.
It is use when the Tx with Risperidone fails. It exert and antagonistic effect on D1 and D4 receptors,
it is also antagonists on the alpha-adrenergic, histaminergic, serotonergic, and cholinergic systems.
