* STEP 3 Jan-March: The worst time to take the exam?

From my understanding of how the exam is graded is that we are not given a score mainly on how many questions we get right. Instead, we get graded on how many questions we get right compared to everyone else

If this is true wouldn't taking the exam when there's a larger pool of applicant make it more difficult to score well? This is logic some folks have explained it to me:

-take the exam on a regular day and you are compared to the pool of examinees from the entire week
-take the exam during Jan-March and you are compared to the pool of examinees from those few months

If this is true, wouldn't it be graded more difficult during Jan to March because you have more competition?

@rulad89 love if they gave us some numbers so we can crunch something.

Anyone agree or disagree with my thoughts above?
