Friend gave me this q
are there any special rules that applly to drug trials for incompetent pt's
the q and i don't have the answer:
Elderly woman became unresponsive and had to be placed on a ventilator, there is a drug trial being conducted concerning her condition but the drug must be given within 4 hours of onset (woman fits this criteria) what do you do?
enroll her in the trial, ask her daughter, ask the ethics comittee, don't enroll her
can the doctor use substited judgement here? |
