* From research into residency

  Hi colleagues
I am a researcher in the field of neuroscience and want to do neurology residency in the USA. As a researcher, I have many journal publications, conference papers, posters, grants. What is the problem, I graduated in 2003. However, after that time I did PhD, post-doc, worked as a researcher, all in neuroscience. I have major clinical experience gap but if we take into account research, the gaps can be filled out. By the way, I work in Canada and I am a permanent resident in Canada.
- is it realistic to get into neurology residency, in my case?
- if yes, how can I increase my chances?
Thanks in advance

  Yes, it is possible to get into residency training after that. However, you will need to do well on your USMLE and have some clinical experience in a form of externship before you apply. You are an old grad and you require VISA. You need to do more to get in. You have to work harder than the applicants who are fresh grads. It is not impossible, but it will be hard.

  OK. What is the major issue with your profile? How many times did you fail to be matched? Will you try again?

  My scores are in 220's. some USCE but not too extensive. I will not try again and will focus on my career in research and teaching.

  OK, and what is your research about? For which residency did you apply?
