  1) What is your other option?
2) Will you be happy knowing you never tried?
3) Can you be gainfully employed while still trying for residency?
4) Do you think yourself capable of scoring 220 and > in step 2?
5) If you take step 2, without too much delay take step 3.
6) Nobody REALLY knows the right answer to your question!

Answer the above 4 questions and you might find your answer.

  Hi,

You said theres no other option. That to me would tell me that you are motivated to get the job done. I understand you have kids, and are pregnant and thats very tough on its own. You have to make some time for yourself and to study. You wont be happy if you never tried, so you know the answer. Its hard to be positive, and its even harder when you read a bunch of BS on the internet. Keep trying, have faith that things will work out in the end. And if things haven't worked out, its not the end :)

Agree with bb2. Stay motivated while doing the best job you can as a mother. 30 mins a day of studying to get to residency. Be prepared for a tough road ahead. I am on that road so I know. Love those kids all the while.

No other option. You said it.

You will be having chances for matching, dont give up.
Complete Step 2 CK exam with good scores and take Step 3 exam as well for making the better chances as you have less score in Step 1 exam. Also, never take the exam if you are not ready, take the exam when you feel ready.

Along with scores gain multiple hands-on rotations to gain strong experience by gaining Strong LORs and to show programs that you are clinically active.

As you are an old grad it will be tough for match, but you still be having matching.
You need to have high scores in other Steps including Step 3 and complete them in first attempt.

Only scores are not enough you need to have multiple hands-on clinical experience in the specialty you will be applying for match and be clinically active for the application.
