Hi ... One of the S/E of giving glucocorticoids for immunospuppression is that the person may develope acne and hisuitism... I an know this and have seen it on the wards .. The question is why do they develope it? Kaplan says it because the adrenal androgens are increased just as in Cushings because of excess Cortisol??
My questions is whats the source of the Adrenal androgens ? Of cortosol is high then ACTH should be low and adrenal androgens should be low...so why the high adrenal androgens...Does cortisol have androgeninc effect also?? I need to understand the physiology of the this very sommon S/E...thanks !!
