37 yr old woman who is HIV positive comes with a 4 week h/o of worsening hemiparesis, visual field defects and cognitive impairment. she has gone 2 years without ant retroviral therapy. the patients cd4 counts are ,22/microl. MRi shows several hypodensities that donot enhance with contrast and are not surrounded my edema. A LP shows normal opening pressure, elevated protein levels and presence of myelin basic protein with mild mononuclearpleocytosis. what does the patient have

a. toxoplasmosis
b. hiv encephalitis
c. cmv encephalitis
d. primary cns lymphoma
e. jc virus
A. cerebral toxoplasmosis
JC virus Progressive multifocal leucoencephalopathy.

1.Cognative impairment;
2.Hypodense lesion without enhancement;
3.No edema;
4.LP opening pr normal;
5.MS like demylinating Ix report.
