how to describe ultrasound in lay terms ?
do we have to explain each & every diagnostic workup to the patients ?
TV scan of your tummy=ultrasound
thanks nhsl
better u can say "it is looking inside your belly using sound waves...it is going to be painless"
usually they understand blood or urine tests or CXR but if CAT scan or USG or MRI comes along, we have to explain
There is another suggestion :
making a picture of internal organs by bouncing sound waves off them and recording the echoes
My advice is to be simple as possible. You can tell a thing in thousands of ways but if you tell any scientific word other than laymans word SPs will inquire about it in the most of the time.So dont wast time.
You have only limited time to do all the things.Time is really precious in the exam.
