In Croup( laryngotracheitis) n bact tracheitis( laryngotracheobronchitis),how do we differentiate?
Both can present with horseness,barking cough subglottic narrow .In bact tracheitis U give antibiotics which is not given in Croup.Pls explain
croup is not larytrachietis. croup is laryngotracheobronchitis. that is viral so pat presents as flu symptoms. when it becomes comlplicated with bact infections pat start excreting thick sputum.
these can help differentiate

croup bact tracheitis

1]viral bacterial
2]seen mostly in pat seen in older pat < 16 y.o age
age 6 mon- 3yrs
3]will improve after will not improve after standard treatment
intial treatment
