It depends on your basic knowledge level. Some people start from 2, but majority - from 1. Makes more sense to pass the basics first.
What about materials needed?

Good luck, kor. When you get your feet wet in your preparation, please try to spend about 30 minutes per day on this forum. At least as silent parrticipant. VEEEEEEERY good stuff.
