if the pt has additional coarse fascial feature recently & couldn't wear his wedding ring b/c he said it makes him very tight .best confirmatory test?
Acromegaly -

Initial test/ Screening test - Igf 1 test

Confirmatory test - Glucose loading test -abnormally raised GH.

Imaging CT/MRI(MRI more sensitive) - only after the above two suggests acromegaly.



IF the first two tests are postive and MRI negative - Next best step??

what do u do if MRI is negative, after the previous tests prove it as Acromegaly?
may be secondary to ectopic GH Prodn ,if the MRI of pituitary is _ve
yes, so look for ectopic causes.
