why? please explain. thanks.
because, it is a Bullous Pemphigoid(antibodies against hemidesmosomes(AKA epidermal basement membrane).
but blisters are present in pemphigus vulgaris too, where the antobodies are directed towards desmosomes.

could anyone come up with a better explaination?

Hemidesmosome : connects keratin of in basal cells to the underlying basement membrane.
