How do you get HPV -dna virus? Is it only through sexual intercourse? So women who are virgins they don't have to worry about it and don't need pap-smears+colposcopy?

I just finished pathoma lecture on HPV, but Dr. Sattar didn't mention how you get it or if he did I missed it..

I know it's persistent infection at the transformational zone on the endo/exocervix and also if the patient is immunodeficient they are at high risk of getting HPV.

i'm not sure, but i heard we still need to do pap smear and colposcopy on them regardless of their status.
