I think it is not necessary how new they are , you just read them& do QQ
That is an interesting question because it does not matter how old or new the material students encounter, they will always miss important things or simple concepts in the material they read. Let take an example, classmates will never get the same score on a multiple choice right after the lecture by the same famous professor of a specific field.
So, to me, any book with good concepts will serve us well. Each publication will of course has a slightly different presentation of the topic whose concepts always remain the same but it is the students whose focus and careful readings will determine the outcome.
