1. Schistocyte (helmet shape cells) ----- Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, DIC, Microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, uremia & carcinoma
2. Acanthocyte or spur RBC or burr cell ------ commonly seen in abetaliporoteinemia or liver dis.
3. Target cell -- seen in liver dis, obstructive jaundice, hypochromic anemia, HgC, HgE, increase blood cholestrol.
4. Tear drop RBC ------- seen in Myeloid metaplasia with myelofibrosis or agnogenic myeloid metaplasia.
5. Howell jolly bodies (fragment of DNA) normally destroyed by spleen ------- increase in splenectomy and in megaloblastic anemia.
6. Dohle Body (small light blue area in neutrophil) --------- found in poisoning, burn , infection and chemotherapy
7. Basophilic stippling or RBC (aggregate of RNA) --------- found in megaloblastic anemia, lead poisoning, thalasemia.
8. Heinz bodies (stain by crystal voilet stain) ---------- seen in G6PD deficiency. (pt usually allergy to many drugs eg sulfa, quinilones, phenacetin etc)
9. Bite cells (RBC) ---------- usually appear due to removal of heinz bodies. Hienz body can also be suspected if bite cells are seen.
10.Russell bodies (mott cell) -------- grape looking plasma cell contain Ig aggregation inclusion called russel bodies ----- seen in Mutiple myeloma.
