can j1 be changed to h1b later on ? - rocky77 - ArchivalUser - 08-02-2009 if i accept j1 now (as i don't have step 3) , can it be changed to h1b after i start my residency ? 0 - ArchivalUser - 08-02-2009 no. 0 - ArchivalUser - 08-02-2009 thanks!! 0 - ArchivalUser - 08-02-2009 No, once you take J1 you cannot change status to H1, GC, etc You have to either work for the set number of yrs in rural or underserved areas or go back to home country for 2 yrs. The Conrad program for J1 ends this Sep and no one is sure if it will be extended again. It should be in order to keep underserved areas serviced by physicians. |
