I think 78 is a little bit low for Cardio. Still try for it. If you do interview better, sometimes it may help you. What about your Step2?

Don't be disheartened my friend, you can be a cardiothoracic surgeon in the USA even with low scores,I am a cardiac surgeon and has obtained surgical residency in NY from July 2003 onwards.

Please let me know your qualifications and your present status with all your details and I shall be able to throw some light.
