bronchioles: (regular and terminal)

i) transition from ps. ciliated columnar to ciliated simple columnar
ii) few to no goblet cells, no mucous glands
iii) no cartilage
iv) crisscrossing bundles of smooth muscle
v) abundant elastic fibers
vi) terminal bronchioles contain Clara cells in the epithelia

yeah this is a uw quest.. the ans is d. there are few ciliated cells present even in the terminal bronchioles which are involved in mucociliary clearance. Clara cells are primarily secretory cells which may be involved in surfactant production.
