Match stat - yx1

According to NRMP, total PGY1 position available: 21845.
US senior students: 15667.

Almost all us senior students matched because the match rate is 93.74%. Most of unmatched students will be sucessful in scramble, etc.

Therefore, 21845 minus 15667 is 6178, which are the position for non-us senior students (total 19308), including canadian students, us physician, osteopath, 5th pathway, us foreign graduate, and non-us foreign graduates.

Therefore the successful rate for non-us senior students to join a resident program is 6178 divided by 19308: around 32%.

Am I right?

It's not really a success rate, it's more of a probabilty...but that's some good calculations on your behalf.

A non-US senior has roughly a 1 in 3 chance of matching...
