well, dna renaturation is an imp step in southern blot or pcr. here a well characterized probe dna is added to a target molecule. the mixed samle is denatured and then renatured. when probe dna bind to the target dna sequence of sufficient complimentarity, its hybridization. i studied today, its in kaplan xenetics.

Since regeneration occurs under high stringency conditions ssDNA will only pair with exact complementary sequence hence mismatching is prevented.
