I am asking this question because I am in serious doubt. It may not be a very serious question, but it appears to hold some importance. Is a black suit acceptable for interviews? So far, everyone I have asked says no - only navy blue or gray. What does this forum have to say about it?

Black is perfectly fine. I see groups of interviewees all the time - navy blue & black are both more common than gray.
