Acute Cholecystitis and Cholecystectomy! - maral

Should we perform Cholecystectomy in the same hospitalization as it says in USMLE world (CCS section!) or should we wait 6-12 weeks and them operate as MTB page 298???....

If cholicystitis is present , rx it with abx, npo, ivf . cooling off the inf. and send him home and bring him back after 4-6 wks for surgery for 2-reasons.
1. surgery is always good to be done in an optimal condition. they prefer to operate on an elective base.
2. many surgeon make more money when they send the pt home and operate them electively vs emergently.
but if the pt is not improving or worsning , surgery needs to be done emergently.
