Do we have to do the screening tests in Gestational diabetes , as there is not risk of congenital anomalies ???

diabetes screening is to be done in the third trimester 24- 28 weeks AOG,
Screen with 50 mg glucose tolerance test, definitive test 3 hr 100 mg glucose tolerance test. Other labs to be done in the third trimester are Rhogam and GBS. hope this helps.

do we have to do the tests you mentioned to detect Congenital anomalies in GD or only in known case of Diabetes ???

Yes. we got to do Fethal Echo for structural heart disease and MSAFP for NTD..

oh ya... NTD can be there in Type 1 Diabetic.. not in GD.. thanks for pointing it ..
