the world is complicated, anything is possible. although high scores have high possiblity get into a program but it is not guaranteed they will get a hot program. for low scores, a lot is dependent upon how strong your background, exprience, and how you deal with it. It may be ended up with nothing.

The person who posted the original message seems to have excellent credentials. Citizenship, experience, letters of reference... Now he/ she needs to do something of the kind that we discussed yesterday, that is, sexual relationship with someone important, regardless orientation. It's not guaranteed, either, but it's more likely to be helpful than wasting time observing/ volunteering/ researching. I personally know many examples, when such activities were not helpful at all.
