What are extranodular sites for lymphoma?
Do the extranodular sites include GIT MALT, tonsils, adenoids which have lymphatic tissue

Or extranodular sites include even the tissues that donot have any lymphatic tissue like the brain? I am pretty confused

Any reply will be appreciated..Some pls solve this....

Thanks in advance

Hi padmalatha

Major ExatraNODAL lymphoma sites indlude the skin, brain, stomach, intestine, and bone.
Yes, they include GIT MALT, and the Waldeyer's ring.

Waldeyer's ring is the anatomical circle of lymphoid tissue in the pharyngeal region which includes palatine, nasopharyngeal, and lingual tonsils.

Extranoday Hodgkin's lymphoma is rare.

Extranodal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is more common.

Here are a couple links which I found useful for added information:

http://annonc.oxfordjournals.org/content...7.full.pdf

http://www.ijpmonline.org/article.asp?is...st=Cardona

The second one is especially good.

I hope this answers your question.
