Opiate withdrawal - hopetomatchsoon
#1
What is the first line drug for treating opiate withdrawal, clonidine or methadone? And are there any indications or contraindications in using either drug?

Also assuming that this could be a possible ccs case on the exam, what else do we need to do in terms of management for this patient?

Methadone in supervised settings...Clonidine in unsupervised settings or when pts refuse detox program.. For CCS go with methadone.

Everything else is symptomatic management with adjunctive tx of antiemetics, antidiarrheals and benzos
