During CO POISONING there will be stimulation of
A-central chemoreceptor
B-peripheral chemoreceptor
C-both of them
D-none of them

central chemoreceptors : medulla
peripheral chemoreceptors : carotid body
CO poisoning = leads to increase affinity to oxygen on hemoglobin = hence hypoxic symptoms = anemia like = however PaO2 is still normal = so peripheral receptors can not pick this up****
CO poisoning = leads to increase affinity to oxygen on hemoglobin = hence hypoxic symptoms = increase anabolic metabolism = leading to lactic acid production = leading to increase h+ ion = leading to respiratory compensation = leading to decreaase CO2 = leading to decrease CO2 crossing over into the blood brain barrier = but central receptors only pick up on increased CO2 = so central chemoreceptors won't pick this up either.
"D" seems to be the best choice...
