the case was given as hospitalised pat after 3 days of hospitalisation developed fever.
on exam tenderness is found over the region of iv catheter. tthe thing for this go withthe basics like bmp and cbc, infection panel like blood culture,urine culture ,along with chest xray [to look for atelectasis] ekg as he is an elderly. along with it give antibiotics including vancomycin as it is a hospital acquired infection . blood culture results take one day to come back ,but before that,the pt responded and the temperature started droping. the case ended before the result of blood culture . thats all . hope it is useful to you . good luck.
