My exam experience and result - usmle_uk
#1
I passed step 3 with 78/192.
Not a good score but i'm done with it.

Study material:
Kaplan step 3 notes, once, very quickly
Usmle world thoroughly once with 57%
Crush step 3 once (couldnt study IM in that)

Study time: 4 to 5 hrs/day for 6 weeks
Step 2 taken in April 2006

NBME 1 week before exam: 400

Exam:
I had very good sleep before the exam day.
First day was very tough and vague and i did them very badly but i wasnt worried(????).
second day questions were better.
CCS: messed up 3 cases, couldnt complete them in 20 mins

If I were to give my exam again i wouldnt study Kaplan step 3 notes but would revise step 2 notes.
I would do Kaplan q bank along with UW as doing more questions is important for this vague and lengthy exam.

More important is not to get scared during the exam and
getting good nite sleep.
I studied minimum and having done mcqs badly and messed up 3 CCS cases, i could have easily failed. But having kept cool mind during the exam has helped me to pass even though not with a good score.
Take enough time to prepare for this exam, its not tough but needs more attention like other steps.

GL to all the future exam takers.

I'm releaved that i'm done with the USMLE exam eventhough i'm not sure of residency yet.

Hi USMLE-UK,
Congrats! You did it and thanx for sharing your experience. Do you think the real exam simulates with UW mcqs? Goodluck in your residency match.
