Mannitol, easy?? - quansar
#11
azaaza, great findings. yes, the answer is 14L

MALENA, the calculation is very simple since Mannitol goes to everywhere extracellularly,

9g/ (65mg/100ml)===14 L

how do we know how much of that 9g of mannitol is lost in urine... since it is freely filterd- can not account all that 9gr to be in extracellular fluid

my bad.

yes, I already included that factor to simplify the q. the injection amount is 10g, and 1 g is lost in the urine before reaching the stated plasma concentration.

My point for this q is to let everybody know manitol goes to interstitial compartment, it does not only stay in the blood vessel, which may be commonly mistaken.

REMEMBER THE FORMULA

C X V= A

C CONCENTRATION
V VOLUME
A AMOUNT

V WILL BE A/C AND IT GIVE YOU 13.5 VER CLOSE TO 14 SO THE ANSWER WILL 14 LITERS
