How do we manage newly diagnoed htn in ccs? - jayhind

Do we send him home and call back for another reading or we measure it twice during the 1st meeting in office only?

1. if DBP>90 after 3-6 months of lifestyle modification
2. if DBP>100 initially--1 drug--HCTZ
3. if BP > 160/100-- 2 drug therapy.

ask for home monitoring of blood pressure or check your past records

if not send him back home n scedule apointment for next day and ask for
BP at home

if in 40s go for evaluation of essential HTN but if more than 65 or less than 20 go for
secondary HTN........................PRIMARY HYPERALDOSTERONISM,
PHEOCHROMACYTOMA,CUSHING'S, RENAL ARTERY STENOSIS

so if if the 40 yr pt comes with stage 2 htn ( systolic >160 or diastolic >100)... so we still need to followup on the second day or we can start medicine???

start medicines atleast 2....either HCTZ OR ACEi and follow up in 1 month but if his BP is more than 180/110 treat immediately
