Gateway Exam replacing step 1 and step 2 ck? - lalouette

Does anyone of you have any info about the gateway exam? I heard from someone that really seemed serious about it, that step 1 and step 2 ck will merge in one exam in the near future, and that this exam will be called Gateway 1. Step 2 cs would remain unchanged (the name will probably change though).

Is this just a rumor? Neither NBME, USMLE.ORG nor ECFMG mention absolutely anything about this so called Gateway exam! Please, does anybody of you guys know anything about this?

i also heard that this is true...
but i donno when exactly will this be applied
may be 2010,2011...i donno
but the thing abt the new software in step1 and new approach in Q..will be applied starting the second half of this may isA..and u can find the details abt it on the ECFMG site..there ius even a trial exam there
