The laboratory of Dr. Imtiaz Khan seeks to hire a full-time Research Assistant to work in support of its currently funded immunologic studies with Toxoplasma gondii and Encephaltizoon cuniculi. This project will extend to 6/30/2013.
This position entails the following duties and responsibilities:
¢ Management of mice breeding colonies
¢ Perform cell culture maintenance and cell preparation from animal tissues
¢ Assist in general laboratory upkeep
¢ Assist in the preparation of manuscripts and grants
¢ Conduct independent experiments under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
¢ Aid other scientists within the laboratory with their day to day experiments.
¢ Ability to both work as a member of a team and independently.
Experience with immunology-based and molecular biology techniques including but not limited to: flow cytometry, real time rt/PCR, ELISA, nucleic acid extractions, cell culture, aseptic technique, etc are also important for this position.
This position is available immediately. The minimum requirements for this position are a BS and/or BS, preferably in Microbiology or a related scientific field and 1 to 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a related microbiological field.
Experience with handling laboratory animals is essential. Salary is commensurate to qualifications.
