what shd we say if a pt with urinary retention ask us to do something to relieve his retention ?

dont discuss treatment .....tell him that u will do some test to find out cause than than discuss will work on plan

and also at the end, before u leave the room, tell him that u will be now bringing the Foley's catherter to relieve his obstruction. that will make the pt feel that the doc really cares abt him

atleast i feel that we should mention this part cause urinary obstruction must be causing a great deal of uncomfort and distress to the pt
