Hi people,
Intwvd at Brookdale 4 days ago. Posting details:
1. Lots of paperwork, tour with resident, lunch, 2 intvws and 1 with PD. All positions for pre-match.Offers H1 and J1. Have to pay for visa fees. Informal intvw. Some medical questions, others gen. Residents intake divided as per 50% seats for freshers and 50% for with previous experience. People seem friendly. 99% residents IMG. Mostly Q4 calls.
2.Cons: 99% pt populn AA. Area is Scary, not a nice place to stay and roam around, High Crime rate. Have to pay for visa fees. Residents expected to do IV lines and bloods.No inhouse PICU and NICU attendings. Not university affiliated.
3. Residents seem happy. Good teaching from what i saw(they showed me their curriculum for the whole year), have peds board review course for third year residents. 80% board pass rate. 11 0f 14 residents have secured fellowship positions in current batch( was told 1 in Harvard, cleveland clinic, UPMC, etc). No fellows, so opps for procedures. Hospital acommodation provided at subsidized rates.
