can anybody tell me chronic afib mx protocol

Since it is for the past 2 weeks first anticoagulate and control rate and then cardiovert

but in kaplan book he says immediate cardioversion if questionable antcog elective can anyone explain

Cardiovert if its been going on for over 48 hours....before that, you try medical management with rate control

Of previous to the 48 hours, you'll try medical management and anticoagulation is a must in A-Fib even after cardioversion.

So..Acute: 1. Rate Control
2. Anticoagulate to INR of 2-3
3. Cardiovert immediately if hemodynamically unstable

Chronic: 1. Anticoagulate
2. Cardiovert
3. Continue Anticoagulation for another few weeks

At least that's my concept of it...correct me if i'm wrong.
