I dont agree.. I would FIRST put a chest tube and drain the abscess as Antibiotic dosen't work well ....

Broadspectrum antibiotic to cover mixed flora is the mainstay of treatment. Pulmonary physiotherapy and postural drainage are also important. Surgical procedures are required in selective patients for drainage or pulmonary resection

yes you are right...

oh yea...i agree...and besides that if the leision is in a rim or cortical...we remove it surgically....DECORTICATION
and besides this we do the PH of pleural fluid....if its lets less than 7.2 and glucose less than 60....then we drain the effusion prooving that its complicated....we put a chest tube... |
