2. what's the most accurate test.. - mahr90

for allergic interstitial nephritis? this is getting confusing now.. again in kaplan vids fischer said it's biopsy whereas in MTB 2 it says Hansel or Weight stain.. so which one is it?

Renal biopsy remains the gold standard for diagnosis, but it may not be required in mild cases or when clinical improvement is rapid after removal of an offending agent or medication.

so if you suspect allergic interstitial nephritis (fever, rash, and arthralgias ) first thing is do Urine analysis ...WBC then do Hansel stain to confirm eosinophliuria more sensitive than Wright stain.

Hansel & Wright stain are the same stains right? Either Hansel or Wright u mean?

Ok i wonder why he said renal biopsy though.. anyway thanks again (:

hansel n wright are 2 different stain both are used to detect eosinophil in urine but hansel is more senitive of the two

R u sure? cz in mtb 2 it says hansel OR wright stain..

Hansel stain (methylene blue and eosin Y) in methanol is sensitive than wright
wright stain (methylene blue and eosin)
