By God's Grace, I have matched!! Smile

My credentials:

IMG (Pakistan)
YOG 2011
Step 1: 250
Step 2 CK: 245
Step 2 CS: Passed in first attempt
USCE: 2 observerships (1 in private clinic, 1 in a University hospital clinic), no electives
Research: no publications, only one research paper from medical school. Worked in a research position for 3 months at prominent US University.
LORs: 3 US LORs and 1 from med school
California letter in hand when applying

Applied to over 100 IM programs, mostly California and then selected programs in a few other states. Also applied to FM in California. Received 10 IVs, 7 from California, where I live.

Waiting to find out where I matched.

hey caligirl....first of all congratulations!!!! u are finally done with this process and are now a doctor in US
and that too in california!!! thats definetly a great achievement!!!!

can u plz tell in which speciality u have matchedSmile.....im going to settle in california eventually and wanted to know how competitive it is for imgs to match in california

I don't know whether I matched into IM or FM yet as I had interviews from both specialities. Will find out Friday!

Yes, it definitely is competitive in California but if you apply while being a resident of California (obviously means you need to have the PTAL made), then the chances are many times higher to get in. They prefer local applicants.
