becoming a green card holder - ravenclaw

Hi, I will be applying for 2017 match in Sep. and will get married with US citizen in Aug.
I know Green card process takes almost 4months in my country, and during the process I cannot enter US. So I must begin the process after finishing interviews in Jan. If I can get GC before residency(starting in 2017 Jul), what should I do when I upload my application in ERAS? is it OK to check 'doesn't need visa' and get GC before residency? Thank you in advance

@ravenclaw What website did you use to find this US citizen for marriage? Why don't you also share that information here because it may be golden for visa match applicants.
